QR code best practices for small business
Size matters
Minimum print size is roughly 1 inch square when viewed from arm's length, and 4+ inches for anything further than three feet. Vehicle decals should be 6-10 inches. Bigger is better - never shrink the QR below the point where its error-correction pattern is readable.
Don't distort brand colors
You can tint the QR code (use a dark color for the foreground), but keep the contrast ratio high. Light foregrounds on light backgrounds fail to scan. Stick to the 4.5:1 WCAG contrast rule for text and you'll be safe.
Always print the call-to-action
A QR code by itself is a silent square. Pair it with a short line: "Scan to leave a Google review" or "Loved the service? Leave us a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐". Without the CTA, scan rates drop about 60%.
Test before you print 500 of them
Print one proof, scan it from three different phones and two different distances. Only then send the file to the print shop. A typo'd URL on 500 business cards is a painful lesson.

When sending the QR to a print shop, use these settings:
- File format: SVG (scales losslessly) or 300+ DPI PNG
- Color mode: CMYK for print, RGB for screen
- Quiet zone: Leave at least 4 modules of white space around the code - the tool already does this

Is this QR code actually printable?
Yes. The tool generates high-resolution SVG and PNG (1024×1024) files. SVG scales to any size without losing quality - perfect for vehicle decals, yard signs, and large-format print. PNG is fine for business cards, receipts, and stickers.
Do I need a Google Business Profile?
Yes. The QR code points to your Google review URL, which requires a verified GBP listing. If you don't have one yet, create it at business.google.com first.
Will the QR code expire?
No. QR codes don't expire - they're just an image of a URL. As long as your Google Business Profile exists, the QR code works.
Can I use my own logo in the middle of the QR code?
